The Workers Party of Bangladesh, a partner of the Awami-League-led alliance, on Sunday at a rally called on the Awami-League-led government to take clear stand against the US drone attack in Iraq that killed Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani and seven others by condemning it.
The party president Rashed Khan Menon also asked the government not to go for any military deal with the US.
US president Donald Trump was responsible for the cowardly drone attack, said Menon said demanded that the United Nations should bring the killers to trial.
Menon, a former minister, termed Trump as a cool-headed killer at the rally in front of the National Press Club.
Menon also called on all the left and democratic political parties to raise their voices against the killings.
Party general secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha said that the US was eager to start a world war to boost and expand its arms market.
Trump had taken the controversial step to divert the people’s attention from the real political issues, he said.
Abul Hossain, the Dhaka City unit president of the party, alleged that the US government had invaded Iraq earlier and ousted Saddam’s government on false allegations.
The US government again appeared to be interested to start a world war by killing the Iranian general, Abul said.
The party politburo members Mahmudul Hassan Manik, Sushanta Das, and Hazera Sultana, and others attended the rally, chaired by the party’s politburo member Anisur Rahman Mollick.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
