Bangladesh Adibashi Nari Network awarded five ethnic women for their contribution to their respective fields at a programme marking the International Women’s Day 2019 held at the faculty of fine art at Dhaka University on Sunday.

The awardees are —

Lovely Chakma: Sculptor Lovely completed her bachelor and master degrees from Dhaka University and Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata securing first class. The polymath woman has bagged a number of national and international awards for her creative works.

Jyotishi Chakma: After completing her bachelor and master degree from Dhaka University’s  Pali and Buddhist studies department, Jyotishi joined the department as a teacher in 2014.

Mahua Hajang: Mohua joined Bangladesh Police as the first ever female Hajang sergeant. She is now working at Ramna police station.

Domepru Marma Happy: Popularly known as Happy, she started her journalism career as Bandarban correspondent of Ekushey TV in 2012.

She is presently a reporter and news presenter of Channel 24 from 2013.

Kuhelika Ajim: This self-taught beautician has overcome poverty and worked with beauty parlour like Persona. Now she has been running her own beauty parlour and also training up women in this trade.
