Bangladesh extends university closure

The Bangladesh government has extended the ongoing closure of all universities till May 29 considering the Covid situation.

The decision was taken in consultation with the national technical advisory committee on the Covid-19, said a release of the ministry on Sunday.

All the universities will remain closed till May 29, it said.

The educational activities conducted online would, however, continue as usual, said the release.

The decision was taken considering the health and overall safety of the students, teachers, employees and guardians of the students, the release said and hoped that all of them would abide by health rules.

All educational institutions have remained closed since March 18, 2020 due to the Covid outbreak in the country. Closure of educational institutions was extended in phases till May 22.
