JAAGO, UN Women holds webinar on violence against women

JAAGO Foundation and UN Women Bangladesh hosted a day-long virtual dialogue titled ‘Youth Combating Violence against Women in COVID’, said a press release issued on Saturday.

Funded by the Japanese government, the dialogue was held in three broad categories – Frontline response to COVID: the role of youth organisations, He for She: Unbalanced workload for women during COVID, and Sexual Harassment: Online and offline.

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, the virtual dialogue brought youth, policymakers, development partners, and influencers on the same platform to discuss solutions on the matter.

Founder and executive director of JAAGO Foundation Korvi Rakshand, UN in Bangladesh national consultant Tanjim Ferdous, UN Women Bangladesh country representative Shoko Ishikawa, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust research specialist Taqbir Huda, UN resident coordinator Mia Seppo, state minister for telecommunications and information technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, among others, spoke during the event.

The webinars were moderated by UN in Bangladesh national consultant Tanjim Ferdous, Regional Movement Builder, Asia, at SheDecides Syeda Samara Mortada, and UN Women Bangladesh communications analyst Shararat Islam.
