The High Court on Wednesday asked the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Chattogram office to explain in a month what steps were taken regarding corruption allegations against Chattogram Water Supply and Sewerage Authority managing director AKM Fazlullah.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the directive while hearing a writ petition filed by Hasan Ali, a resident of Chattogram.

Hasan prayed for a directive on the government and the commission’s Chattogram office to  explain why their inaction in taking action against the CWASA managing director on the basis of his complaint he filed on September 11 would not be declared illegal.

The High Court observed that the writ petition was premature as the matter was pending with the ACC.

Hasan in his complaint said that Fazlullah had been involved in different types of corruption since he joined as CWASA’s chairman on July 9, 2009 and became managing director in 2012.

He cited different news reports on the ‘irregularities’ and ‘corruption’ of the managing director.
