The Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday interrogated ruling Awami League lawmaker Mouazzam Hossain Ratan for his alleged involvement in money laundering.
The commission director Sayed Iqbal Hossain interrogated him at the ACC headquarter in the capital.
ACC officials said that during the interrogation, Mouazzam claimed that he was being harassed politically with the allegations of corruption.
He also said he had never been involved with corruption rather he was always against corrupt practices.
Earlier on October 24, ACC imposed a ban on foreign travel by Sunamganj-1 lawmaker Mouazzam.
The commission initiated an inquiry against the lawmaker after media reports that party colleagues raised allegation that Mouazzam was involved in different types of corruption including extortion and embezzlement, said ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
He said that the ACC slapped the travel ban after its primary inquiry found evidence that the lawmaker was involved in money laundering and was trying to leave the country.
