Jamal, Arambagh taste 1st win

Both Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Arambagh Krira Sangha tasted their first win in the 12th Bangladesh Premier League when they beat their respective rivals by identical 2-1 margins at two separate venues on Tuesday.

Jamal beat Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Goplaganj while Arambagh defeated Chattogram Abahani at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram. 

At Gopalganj, Jamal’s Gambian defender Pa Omar Jobe and forward Solomaon King scored one goal each to give them full three points. Cameroonian forward Biyaga Paul Emili scored one goal for Muktijoddha.

Jobe gave his team the lead in the 44th minute with a fierce shot from inside the box after receiving a cross from midfielder Zahid Hossain.

Emili scored the equaliser in the 47th minute with a right-footed drive from inside the box following a pass from midfield.

Kanform confirmed the victory with scoring in the 73rd minute with a header from the box after a cross by defender Mozammel Hossain Nira from right-wing.

In Chattogram, Arambagh’s Nigerian forward Eleta Kingsley scored a brace while forward Shakhawat Hossain Rony pulled one goal back for Chattogram Abahani.

Kingsley gave Arambagh the lead in the 38th minute before Rony leveled the margin for the port city outfit in the stoppage time of the first half.

Kingsley confirmed full three points for Arambagh by scoring his second also in the injury time of the first half.

Earlier, Jamal suffered a 0-2 loss in their first game against Chattogram Abahani while Arambagh also lost to Mohammedan Sporting Club by a solitary goal in their first match of the 13-team league.
