Charmugria Merchants High School and Lalmonirhat Govt High School emerged champions of Madaripur and Lalmonirhat districts in the Bangabandhu National School Cricket district level competition after defeating their respective opponents in the final on Tuesday.
At the Madaripur stadium, Charmugria Merchants High School beat United Islamia Government High School by seven runs while Lalmonirhat Govt High School defeated Church of God High School by four wickets at the Lalmonirhat stadium to become champions.
Batting first, Charmugria Merchants High School were bundled out for 114 runs with Rashedul top-scoring with 26 runs while Al Zaber claimed 5-32 for United Islamia Government High School.
In reply, United Islamia Government High School were bowled out for 107 runs. Johirul (22) was the top scorer for Islamia High School while Robin claimed 3-10 for Charmugria High School.
At Lalmonirhat, batting first, Church of God High School were all out for 160 runs with some destructive bowling from Lalmonirhat High School’s Ashikur Rahman, who finished with 5-32.
In reply, Lalmonirhat High School reached 162-6 in 42.5 overs with Fazle Rabbi and Abu Sayeem each scoring 28 runs. Shahriar took 2-21 for Church of God School.
Charmugria Merchants High School and Lalmonirhat Govt High School will now compete in the respective divisional championships.
Over 11,000 students from 556 schools across the country are taking part in the current edition of the tournament, which began on January 20.
