Spring celebrated in Manikganj

Different educational institutions and cultural organisations celebrated the advent of spring organising various programmes from February 14-16 in Manikganj.

Teachers and students of Manikganj Government Debendra College attended a Basanta Utsab at the college on Sunday.

The Bangla department of the college organised the festival that commenced with a colourful procession at 10:30 am.

A discussion was also held at the department. Head of the Bangla department Professor Nurun Nahar Begum presided over the programme. Principal of the college Professor Md Nurul Amin, associate professor Sheuly Yasmin and lecturer Jafar Iquebal of Bangla department spoke at the event.

Besides, recitation organisation Barnan Abritti Chakra arranged a cultural function at Manikganj Government Boys’ High School playground on Friday night to celebrate the advent of spring.

The members of the organisation along with guest artistes entertained the audience performing songs, recitation and dance recitals.

Earlier, a discussion meeting was held in the evening where SM Ferdous, deputy commissioner of Manikganj, was present as chief guest. Farjana Hossain Khan Punam, president of the organisation, presided over the discussion meeting where Afruja Akhter Nasreen, assistant professor of Government Eden College, Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, chief adviser of the organisation and others spoke at the programme.
