The father of slain Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Abrar Fahad filed a petition before Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court to transfer the case to any speedy trial tribunal.
The judge, KM Emrul Kayesh, of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge, set February 17 for hearing on charge framing.
Earlier, the same court took into cognizance the charge sheet submitted in connection with the case filed over the killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad.
During the hearing, 22 out of the total 25 accused were present before the court.
On October 7, 2019, BUET student Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders and activists at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall.
A month later, on November 30, 2019, Md Wahiduzaman, investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka, accusing 25 BUET students.
Later on January 13, the trial was shifted to the Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court from Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
