Dense fog put a halt to the road traffic over the Bangabandhu Bridge from 4:55am and 9:00am on Monday morning.
The suspension of the traffic flow over the bridge on the Dhaka-Tangail national highways caused a 30-kilometre tailback from Rabna bypass in Tangail on the west side to Kodda intersection in Sirajgonj on the east side.
Traffic flow was not possible over the bridge as visibility in the fog was below 30 metres according to the recently-installed visibility censors, said the bridge executive engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel.
‘So, we suspended toll collection from 4:55am and 9:00am,’ he said.
As of Monday evening, the transports were moving over the bridge.
