National stalwart and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim on Monday showcased one of his lesser known skills, when he bowled three overs of off-spin for BCB North Zone in a losing cause against Islami Bank East Zone in their Bangladesh Cricket League match in Cox’s Bazar.
Mushfiq came into the attack in the 19th over to bowl against Mohammad Ashraful, who greeted him with a single.
But Yasir Ali didn’t take too kindly to the senior player chancing his arm, hitting him for a four in the very next ball.
Mushfiq failed to make any inroads in his three-over spell and finished with figures of 0-17.
However, this wasn’t the first time Mushfiq bowled in first-class cricket, as he previously did it in the 2013 and 2014 edition of the BCL for the same team.
In his first attempt against Central Zone, Mushfiq conceded 23 runs of his 10 overs and claimed the wicket of Nurul Hasan, which remains his lone wicket in first-class cricket.
The next season he bowled two overs against East Zone, but remained wicketless.
