Algeria on Sunday expressed intent on importing quality products, including pharmaceuticals, jute and jute products and readymade garments, from Bangladesh.
New Algerian ambassador Rabah Larbi expressed the intent in separate meetings with foreign minister AK Abdul Momen and state minister for foreign affairs M Shahriar Alam at the foreign ministry in Dhaka, said a press release.
The Algerian ambassador also put stress on consolidating bilateral relations further especially through holding political consultations and boosting economic and trade linkages.
The two ministers reiterated Bangladesh’s willingness to strengthen bilateral ties with Algeria for enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade and commerce, socio-economic development and people-to-people contacts to the mutual benefits of the two brotherly countries.
They requested the ambassador to explore opportunities for cooperation in energy, air connectivity and skilled manpower, among other potential sectors, and emphasised the importance of exchange of visits both at public and private sector levels to reap the benefits of people-to-people contacts.
