The final of the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League will be a five-day affair, unlike the usual four-day format, Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Sunday.
The match is scheduled to be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on February 22-26.
But both the finalist spots were still up for grabs as three teams, BCB South Zone, Islami Bank East Zone and Walton Central Zone, stood with a chance to qualify for the final today, when they take the field on the final day of their respective BCL third round matches.
South Zone, who are topping the table with 17.89 points, could book their place in the final if they avoid a defeat against Central Zone today, but failing to do so would put their final qualification at risk.
Central Zone’s equation is the simplest as a win over South Zone will be sufficient for a spot in the final.
East Zone, who are currently in second position with 13.06 points, will automatically qualify for the final if South Zone can avoid a defeat against Central Zone.
But if Central Zone beat South Zone, then they will have to defeat BCB North Zone to play in the final, otherwise Central and South will move to the final as the top two teams.
