Former state minister and Awami League MP from Gazipur-3 constituency Rahmat Ali passed away on Sunday morning.
He was 76.
Rahmat, also the advisory committee member of Awami League, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital around 7:30am, the ruling party said in a press release.
He left behind his wife, one daughter and two sons along with a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He had been suffering from prolonged kidney disease and diabetes.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Awami League advisory council member, former LGRD state minister and MP, Md Rahmat Ali.
In a condolence message, she prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Rahmat Ali was elected as a member of parliament five times from Gazipur-3 constituency.
