BNP-led lawyers in Barishal on Saturday rejected the election results of Barishal District Bar Association and demanded fresh election.
At a press conference, they demanded immediate cancellation of the declared results and called for fresh election.
They threatened lawsuit to settle the matter in the court if their demands were not met.
The election was held on Thursday and Awami League-backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad swept the annual election of the executive and sub-committees of Barishal District Bar Association, bagging 10 out of 11 posts.
BNP-led 20-party alliance supporter Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad bagged only one post of an executive committee member in the election.
In the press conference lawyer Majibur Rahman Nantu, defeated president candidate of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad read out a written statement.
He alleged that before the declaration of the result, it was announced that 760 out of 866 voters cast their votes.
But 769 votes were counted in the declared results and of the votes, president candidates of the AL-backed panel received 432, BNP-backed candidate 305, Ganoforum candidate 27 and independent candidate 1 and 4 votes were cancelled, he said.
To pave the way of riggings and supplying fake or extra ballots, the launch break was extended from 30 minutes to 45 minutes from 1:00pm to 2:15pm, BNP lawyers alleged.
The anomaly proves the vote riggings and fake or extra ballots were printed and cast to rig the result, Majibur added.
Laywer Riaz Hossain, defeated secretary candidate of the BNP-led panel in the election and other leaders were also present in the press conference.
