The Bangladesh Nationalist Party will stage countrywide demonstration today to press home their demand for unconditional release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme while presiding over a rally in front of the party central office on February 8 marking two years of Khalea’s jail.
On Friday, the party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at the party central office said that the procession in Dhaka will be brought out from the party central office and will end at National Press Club in Dhaka.
‘We have completed all the preparations to make the procession a grand one,’ he said.
Khaleda, also a former prime minister, is in jail since February 8, 2018, the day she was convicted by a special court in Dhaka in a graft case which the BNP terms false and fabricated.
Ailing Khaleda was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on April 1, 2019.
