Saif Sporting Club made a winning start in the 12th Bangladesh Premier League when they beat Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society by a solitary goal at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Friday.
In the day’s other match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Mohammedan Sporting Club also made a winning
start to their campaign by defeating Arambagh Krira Sangha by an identical margin.
At Mymensingh, the first half saw both the teams getting several scoring chances but failing to convert any of those into a goal.
Saif’s Rwandan defender Emery Bayisenge scored the all-important goal in the 63rd minute to give his team full three points.
With a goal down, Rahmatganj tried to stage a fight back by creating a few chances but failed to convert those due to lack of proper finishing.
In Dhaka, Mohammedan’s Nigerian winger Ugochukwu Obi Moneke scored the winning goal in the 30th minute of the match.
