Sylhet-based theatre troupe Nabashikha Natyadal staged the play ‘Kabar’ at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium at Rikabibazar in Sylhet on Wednesday.
The play was staged on the twelfth day of on-going seventeen-day theatre festival at the venue.
Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet, a combined platform of Sylhet-based theatre troupes, in association with the cultural affairs ministry, Sylhet District Council and Sylhet City Corporation, has organised the theatre festival marking the International Mother Language Day.
Martyred intellectual Muneir Choudhury had composed ‘Kabar’.
The play is based on the language movement of 1952. It has been directed by Faridul Fardin, Drubajyoti Dey and Tanmoy Nath Tonu.
Abdur Rajjak Khan, Sharif Uddin, Rajib Das, Rakibul Hasan Ruman, Arnab, Nadi, Nayeem, Hriday, Mahadi, Priyangka, Sinthi, Ruhena, Tahmina, Shatabdi and Arzun enacted different roles in the play.
Following the show, politician Asad Uddin Ahmad, Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet president Mishfaq Ahmad Chowdhury Mishu, its general secretary Rajat Kanti Gupta and Divisional Photojournalist Association president Mamun Hasan handed over the festival souvenir to the activists of Nabashikha Natyadal.
Theatre troupe Kathakali Sylhet staged the play ‘Court Marshal’, composed by Swadesh Dipak, on Thursday evening at the festival.
