Natyamancha Sylhet stages ‘Badhyabhumite Shesh Drishya’

Theatre troupe Natyamancha Sylhet staged its play ‘Badhyabhumite Shesh Drishya’ at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium at Rikabibazar in Sylhet on Tuesday.

The play was staged on the eleventh day of the seventeen-day theatre festival under way at the venue.

Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet, a platform of Sylhet-based theatre troupes, in association with the cultural affairs ministry, Sylhet District Council and Sylhet City Corporation, has organised the theatre festival marking the International Mother Language Day.

‘Badhyabhumite Shesh Drishya’ portrayed the genocide committed by Pakistani occupation forces against Bengalis during the liberation war in 1971.

Kazi Mahmudur Rahman composed the play and Rajat Kanti Gupta directed the production.

Rajat Kanti Gupta, Shahin Ahmad, Bidhan Singha, Riben Talukder, Mariam Nusrat Tumpa, Mehedi Hasan, Rokhan Uddin, Rizan Ahmad Rumel, Kawsar Rahman, Moumi Akter, Kawsar Ahmad, Sahida Binte Hasan, Chayan Pal Shanta, Aminur Rahman Ruhit and Ramanuj Gupta acted in the play.

Following the show, North East University vice-chancellor Professor Athful Hai Shibli and professor of Mayeen Uddin Mahila College Partha Sarathi Das handed over the festival souvenir to the artistes of Natyamancha Sylhet.
