Darpan Theatre Sylhet stages ‘Hattamalar Opare’

Theatre troupe Darpan Theatre Sylhet staged its play ‘Hattamalar Opare’ at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Rikabibazar, Sylhet on Saturday.

The play was staged on the eighth day of the seventeen-day theatre festival under way at the venue.

The festival has been organised by Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet, a platform of Sylhet-based theatre troupes, in association with the cultural affairs ministry, Sylhet District Council and Sylhet City Corporation, marking the International Mother Language Day.

‘Hattamalar Opare’ has been composed by Badal Sircar and jointly directed by Nahid Parvej Babu and Supriya Dev Shanto.

The play revolves around two thieves—Kena and Becha—who wanders into a fictitious land where resources are distributed evenly among the people.

The play gives the audience a glimpse into a disparity free society where all citizens get a fair opportunity to become successful.

Nahid Parvej Babu, Supriya Dev Shanto, Atanu Dev, Hasna Alam Omi, Kanan Chanda, Aseem Sharma, Anamul Haque Sami, Prama Bhattacharya, Rahul Rajan Nath, Mahashweta Dev Purkayastha, Shashi Mallika Chakrabarti, Jayita Zehen Priyati, Khamashree Bhattacharya Parna and Namita Bhattacharya Archi, among others, performed different characters in the play.
