Two held with 9 stolen motorbikes

Members of Detective Branch anti-vehicle theft and recovery unit had arrested two thieves and seized nine stolen motorbikes from their possession.

The arrested were identified as Md Sohag, 19, and Md Sajal, 27, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police press release said on Friday.

‘We arrested the duo in separate drives and seized the motorbikes from Tejgaon area on Thursday,’ the press release said quoting assistant commissioner of police Mujib Ahammad Patwari.

Police said, ‘The arrested are members of a motorbike thief gang and they steal motorbikes from across the capital. After stealing the bikes they prepare forged documents and sell those to customers in different districts, especially in Gopalganj, Munshiganj, Cumilla, Barisal, Faridpur and Shariatpur.’

A case was filed in this connection with Tejgaon industrial area police station.
