Muhammad Fazli Ilahi, a professor of mechanical engineering, joined Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Dhaka as its vice-chancellor on January 1.
President Md Abdul Hamid, also chancellor of the university, appointed Fazli Ilahi as AUST vice-chancellor for the next four years, said a press release.
Fazli Ilahi earlier served as the vice-chancellor of Islamic University of Technology, a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation, from 2003 to 2008. He also taught mechanical engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology as a professor before joining the IUT.
Muhammad Fazli Ilahi went to St Gregory’s High School and Notre Dame College before studying mechanical engineering at BUET.
He completed his PhD in 1977 from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, according to the release.
