Students continue sit-in protesting at border killings

The Students Unity against Hooliganism on Monday evening brought out a torch-lit procession on Dhaka University campus protesting at killing of Bangladeshis along border by Indian Border Security Force.

Leaders and activists of the alliance brought out the procession from Teachers Students Center which paraded several streets on the campus.

Dhaka University Central Student Union vice-president Nurul Haque Nur, Chhatra Union central president Mehedi Hasan Nobel, Chhatra Federation central general secretary Jahid Sujon, among others, joined the protest.  

The alliance members are Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, Chhatra Federation (Ganosamhati Andolon), Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (Marxist), Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri , Bangladesh Chhatra Federation (Jatiya Mukti Council) , Biplobi Chhatra-Juba Andolan,  Greater Chittagong Hill Tracts Pahari Chhatra Parishad, Nagarik Chhatra Oikya, Swatantra Jote and Chhatra Mancha.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University master’s student Nasir Abdullah continued sit-in on Monday for the third consecutive day at Raju memorial sculpture on the university campus protesting at the killing of Bangladeshis along border by Indian Border Security Force.

Nasir said that he would continue the sit-in until government pressurise their Indian counterpart to stop the killings immediately.

Earlier on Saturday, protesters held funeral prayers without bodies, better known as gayebana janaza, on the campus protesting at indiscriminate killing of Bangladeshis along border by Indian Border Security Force.

At least 11 Bangladeshis were killed along the border by Indian Border Security Force personnel in January this year.
