Season’s second domestic first-class tournament, the franchise-based Bangladesh Cricket League, will start on January 31, said an official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday.
After a meeting with Walton, the title sponsor of the tournament, BCB director Khaled Mahmud said they hoped the first round of the tournament will also help the some national players prepare for the Test series against Pakistan.
‘It’s always better to bat in two innings than train in four sessions,’ Mahmud told reporters after the meeting.
Bangladesh will play first of their two Tests against Pakistan from February 7-11 in Rawalpindi.
Selected players participate in the zone-based BCL tournament, where Islami Bank sponsors East Zone and Walton sponsor Central Zone.
Prime Bank pulled out their name as South Zone sponsor and Mahmud indicated that the board will take the responsibility of the team like North Zone.
Walton executive director Uday Hakim said they discussed with the board about holding the final-match of the tournament under floodlights in pink ball.
