Ishraq Hossain, Bangladesh Nationalist Party mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation, has urged the police to work for people and condemned the Tuesday’s attack on BNP mayoral candidate for Dhaka north city Tabith Awal.
He said this while running an election campaign in Jhauchar area in Hazaribagh in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.
Ishraq urged the police saying, ‘24 hours have passed after the attack; but none has been arrested so far. I am requesting the police to work for people.’
The activists during the campaign demanded release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and sought vote for the ‘sheaf of paddy’.
Former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University Emajuddin Ahmed, BNP joint general secretary Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, BNP leaders — Mir Sharafat Ali Sopu, and Kazi Abul Bashar, among others, were present at the campaign.
