Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin claimed that journalists are getting divided into groups before the BFF’s upcoming election, resulting into ‘negative report’ about the ongoing Bangabandhu Gold Cup.
Salahuddin faced huge criticism for inviting some unfancied African teams to complete the number in the tournament, which failed to create any real hype.
‘I know, the election is coming [BFF election in April]. Some media are divided, making negative reports on Bangabandhu Cup,’ said Salahuddin at his office on Sunday.
The BFF election is going to be held in April this year where Salahuddin faces a challenge from Saif Sporting Club Limited chairman and Chittagong Abahani Limited vice-president Tarafder Ruhul Amin.
Amin claimed earlier on Saturday that the sixth edition of the tournament is being hosted in a dull manner with low-key team’s participation.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the only two countries to field a full-strength national team in the tournament.
