Netrakona-based artistes entertained the Dhaka audience presenting ‘Gazi Kalur Kissa’, traditional performance art form glorifying humanism through story of legendary Gazi pir, at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the 15th day of Bangladesh Cultural Festival 2020 on Friday.
The production featured traditional songs and music. It was compiled and directed by Milan Palakar.
Milan Palakar, Mowazzal, Faysal, Hazrat, Altu Mia and others enacted different roles.
‘We have been performing Kamla Ranir Kissa, Ghulkonyar Kissa, Tajer Mallik-er Kissa, Mahua Shundarir Kissa, Gazi Kalur Kissa and others for the last 35 years across the country. It is unfortunate that traditional art forms are disappearing gradually. I thank Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy for inviting us to the festival,’ Milan Palakar told New Age.
Besides, cultural troupes from Habiganj, Khulna, Dinajpur and Netrokona performed at the festival, which also featured a kabaddi competition, on Friday.
Artistes entertained the audience presenting traditional and popular patriotic songs, dances, recitations and others while members of BSA’s acrobatic troupe performed different stunts.
Four documentaries on Habiganj, Khulna and Dinajpur and Netrakona were also screened at the festival.
The 21-day Bangladesh Cultural Festival 2020 began on January 3.
The festival is featuring traditional sports, dance recitals, instrumental recitals, jatrapala, acrobatic shows, puppet shows and others. The event will end on January 23.
