Bodies of four Bangladesh citizens, who were killed in a boat capsize in a lake in eastern Turkey, are likely to reach Dhaka airport on Friday, according to Bangladesh embassy in Ankara.
The deceased are M Alal Miya and M Mijanur Rahman of Sunamganj, M Syed Faysal Ahmed of Sylhet and Chowdhury UA Yousha Osmani of Netrakona, the embassy said in a press release.
A boat carrying migrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan capsized in Lake Van in Turkey, killing seven people on board on December 26. Four of the killed were Bangladeshi citizens.
At least 64 migrants were rescued in the incident. Eleven of the rescued people are Bangladeshi citizens and they were now under the custody of the Turkish law enforcing agencies, the embassy said.
Turkey is a main crossing point for migrants trying to reach Europe.
The tragic accident should discourage people desperate to migrate illegally through dangerous roots to unknown destinations, the embassy added.
