A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted investigators four days to question Gendaria thana Awami League vice-president Enamul Haque Enu and joint secretary Rupon Bhuiyan in two cases in connection with their alleged involvement in illegal casino business.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury also allowed the investigators to quiz Enamul and Rupon’s associate Sheikh Mostafa Sunny for three days in police custody, said Gendaria and Sutrapur police stations general recording officer sub-inspector Abdur Rob.

The orders were given after the Criminal Investigation Department’s organised crime unit inspector Mehedi Maksud placed the brothers, Enamul and Rupon, and their associate Sheikh Mostafa before the court seeking 10 days to quiz them.

The CID arrested Enamul and Rupon at Keraniganj in Dhaka on Monday. They were staying at a rented house in Keraniganj from where they were trying to prepare fake passports to flee the country.

The brothers were shareholders of Wanderers Club in the capital’s Fakirapool.
