BRAC Bank on Monday introduced paperless personal identification number (PIN) for its debit cardholders as part of the bank’s commitment to support green banking, said a press release.
By making the PIN generation for cards paperless the bank is able to securely transmit card PINs at the cardholder’s convenience, abstaining the old complex procedure, it said.
BRAC Bank customers, after obtaining their debit cards, can now generate their own PIN via phone banking.
Customers are required to contact the BRAC Bank call centre from their registered phone numbers to activate their debit card and set a PIN of their own choice.
Earlier, the customers had to wait for delivery of paper-based PIN that could get delayed due to many reasons.
Commenting on this initiative, BRAC Bank’s head of retail banking Mahiul Islam said: ‘Paperless PIN generation for debit cards is one of our many customercentric and Green Banking initiatives. It also significantly simplifies the manual process of paper-based PIN printing thereby reducing carbon footprint.’
