The four-day international trade show, GARMENTECH Bangladesh, is going to start on Wednesday at the International Convention City, Bashundhara in Dhaka with the aim of bringing the manufacturers and buyers under one roof.
Three other events — the 11th Garment Accessories and Packaging Exposition (GAPEXPO), the 11th International Yarn and Fabrics Sourcing Fair and the 3rd Bangladesh Printing and Packaging Expo — also will begin at the same venue simultaneously.
Zakaria Trade and Fair International, ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and the Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) are jointly organising the shows.
Commerce minister Tipu Munshi is expected to inaugurate the expo while prime minister’s private sector industry and investment adviser Salman F Rahman will attend the event as the guest of honour, BGAPMEA president Md Abdul Kader Khan said at a press conference at La Vinci Hotel in the capital.
He said that around 450 companies from more than 24 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lankan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, France, the US and Turkey, will be showcasing the latest apparel manufacturing technology, yarn and fabrics and garment accessories, packaging and printing technology at the four international shows.
Former BGAPMEA president Rafez Alam Chowdhury, ASK Trade and Exhibition Pvt Ltd managing director Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan and director Nonda Gopal, among others, attended the press conference.
