Popular band Joler Gaan entertained a big crowd at an open air concert held at Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Monday.
The concert was organised by the academy as part of its two-day International Mother Language Day celebrations programme.
Indian band Paridhi also performed at the concert.
Joler Gaan began their performance with its popular number Emon Jadi Hoto. They also entertained the viewers with popular numbers such as Bakul Phul, Jhora Pata, Mayer Jonno Gaan and Ami Ekta Patar Chhobi Anki.
A six-member visiting Indian band Paridhi, in their first ever concert in Bangladesh, covered Joler Gaan’s popular song Bristy Porey Tapur Tupur. Paying tribute to the International Mother Language Day, the band rendered a song in the native language of the Borok people of the Indian state of Tripura. It also presented its popular numbers such as
Swapner Ramani and Banchar Asha.
Earlier, both of the band participated in presentation of the national anthem of Bangladesh and signature song of the Language Movement titled ‘Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano’.
