A two-day long programme titled Haor Parer Shikkhak Sammelan-2019 for promoting quality and digital education in the country’s haor-belt was ended on Saturday in Sylhet.

Sylhet division Ambassadors Teachers Association in association with divisional office of education directorate and Access to Information, a flagship programme of Digital Bangladesh agenda, organised the programme at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium at Rikabibazar in the city.

Sylhet divisional commissioner Mohammad Mostafizur Rhaman addressed the concluding session of the two-day programme as chief guest, with deputy commissioner M Kazi Emdadul Islam in the chair.

The chief guest said that leadership, ownership and youth engagement were very important to develop a school. Teachers and students need to have these skills for institutional and professional development, he said.

Speakers at the programme also urged all teachers to teach their students according to trend of the world.

Crests and certificates were also handed over to the best content developers, innovators and teacher leaders in different topics in the concluding session that was followed by a cultural function. 

Earlier on Friday afternoon, director general of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Syed Golam Faruq inaugurated the two-day programme as chief guest.

He in his inaugural speech emphasised on ensuring quality education and said students need to be imparted soft skills – creativity, morality, efficiency, adaptability and social commitment to develop quality education. 

Learning global language and having good command over Information and Communication Technology were also essential for students’ development, he added.

Seminar, keynote paper presentation, poster display, group discussion and concept sharing on contemporary issues on education were held in the two-day programme.

Around 400 teachers, best content developers, ICT district ambassadors, innovators and leaders of the government teacher’s portal joined the two-day programme that was moderated by the educational technology expert of ICT Division of the A2i programme Rafiqul Islam Sujon.
