Renowned film actress Kohinur Akter Suchanda and journalist Rafi Hossain received Fazlul Haque memorial award 2019 at a programme held at Hotel Westin in the capital on Friday.
National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman distributed the awards among the winners as the chief guest.
‘I feel honoured to receive an award named after Fazlul Haque. This award will inspire me to work harder,’ said Kohinur Akter Suchanda.
‘Fazlul Haque made immense contribution to Bangla film industry. I thank the awards committee for honouring me with this award,’ said Rafi Hossain.
Managing director of Channel-i and Impress Telefilm ltd Faridur Reza Sagar, Impress Telefilm ltd director Jahir Uddin Mahmud Mamun, Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association president Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and others were present at the programme.
Fazlul Haque was the editor of the first cine magazine of the country named Cinema. Fazlul Haque also directed a film for children named President, where his son Faridur Reza Sagar acted as a child artiste.
Fazlul Haque’s widow Rabeya Khatun introduced Fazlul Haque Memorial Award in 2004 and since then Fazlul Haque Smrity Committee has been conferring the honour every year on a film director and a cine journalist.
The awards ceremony also included screening of a documentary on Fazlul Haque titled ‘Shammukjatri’.
