Sylhet Shilpakala academy celebrates Victory Day

District Shilpakala Academy, Sylhet, organised a colourful cultural programme at its auditorium in the city on Thursday evening marking Victory Day 2019.

Trainees of music, dance and recitation sections of the District Shilpakala Academy, activists of Sylhet-based cultural tropes Annesha Shilpigoshthi, Anirban Shilpi Sangathan, Shilpangan, Chandanrityalay and Mrittikay Mohakal presented recitations, dances and songs at the programme.

Purnima Datta Roy, Jyoti Bhattacharya, Arun Kanti Taluder, Pratik Enda, Shantana Devi, Shinia Saha Jhuma, Shamsul Alam Selim, Nripendra Dash, Shyamal Ghosh, Bipul Sharma and Saimum Anjum Ivan directed the group presentations.

Besides, local cultural activists Shamim Ahmed, Mitali Chakrabarti and Jyoti Bhattacharya presented solo songs and recited poems.

The district cultural officer Asit Baran Dash Gupta directed the programme that was jointly coordinated by the District Shilpakala Academy trainees Masud Parvej and Ritushree Dey.

Before starting the cultural session, the organisers handed over prizes including certificates and medals to nine winners of the competitions on songs of the liberation war, children’s painting competition and recitation competition that were arranged marking Victory Day.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Faysal Mahmud and senior journalist Ikramul Kabir, among others, attended the prize giving session as honourable guests.
