Sen clinches men’s, Linh women’s title

Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen and Vietnam’s Thuy Linh Nguyen clinched the men’s and women’s singles event title respectively on the final day of the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International Challenge at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

World 42nd ranked Sen defeated 346th Leong Jun Hao of Malaysia by 2-0 sets (22-20, 21-18) in the men’s final while 46th ranked Linh beat 78th ranked Crystal Pan of USA by 2-0 sets (21-8, 21-16) in the women’s final.

In the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles events, Malaysian pairs of Yee Jun Chang and Kai Wun Tee, Tan Pearly Koong Le and Thinaah Muralitharan, Hoo Pang Ron and Cheah Yee See clinched the title respectively, after all three duos won their final match by 2-0 sets.

A total of 168 shutlers, including 122 male and 56 female, from 19-country took part in the six-day long event, with no Bangladeshi participant managing to go past quarter-finals in all the events.
