Next ‘Ocean Dance Festival’ in 2021: Lubna Marium

Lubna Marium briefs journalists on upcoming ‘Ocean Dance Festival’ at Shadhona- A Center For Advancement of Southasian Culture in capital’s Banani on Thursday. — Sourav Lasker

Eminent dance artiste, researcher and activist Lubna Marium said on Thursday that the next edition of ‘Ocean Dance Festival’ in Bangladesh will be held in 2021.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at Shadhona- A Center For Advancement of Southasian Culture in capital’s Banani.

‘We will organise ‘Ocean Dance Festival’ in Bangladesh once again in 2021. We will start our preparations from June of 2020. We want to organise a colourful festival that will draw a large audience from across the country,’ said Lubna Marium.

‘We will organise a photography exhibition displaying the photographs portraying recently held ‘Ocean Dance Festival in 2019’. The exhibition will be held at a gallery in the capital.

We will also organise a workshop on critical writing on dance. We want to make some new productions for the upcoming festival as well,’ Lubna shared.

Following her speech, a video made by Shadhona depicting ‘Ocean Dance Festival 2019’ was screened at the venue.

‘Ocean Dance Festival 2019’ was organised by Nrityajog, the Bangladesh Chapter of World Dance Alliance – Asia Pacific (WDA-AP).

A total of 119 local and 81 foreign dancers, teachers, researchers and choreographers from fifteen countries participated in the festival, which featured dance shows, seminars, workshops and others.
