Fakhrul urges BNP activists to stand by cyclone victims

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged leaders and activists of the party and associate organisations to stand by the people affected by Cyclone Bulbul.

In a statement on Sunday, he urged affluent people and officials concerned to come forward to ensure treatment for the injured ones, emergency relief materials for the affected people and repair of the damaged houses.

Fakhrul expressed grief at the news of deaths in the cyclone and offered condolences to the bereaved families.

He expressed concern about the news of injury and missing of people, damage to houses and loss of crops, cattle and poultry.

He hoped that the affected people would be able to recover the losses soon.

Cyclone Bulbul hit Bangladesh coast Saturday evening. At least 12 people were killed and scores were injured and missing, thousands of houses destroyed and crops of huge tracts of lands in coastal areas were damaged, said reports received so far.
