Labour leader Abul Bashar remembered

Workers Party of Bangladesh president Rashed Khan Menon on Friday said that now labour movements of our country was not in the hands of the labour leaders.

The labour movements were now controlled by the non-governmental organisations and they bring money from the foreign countries showing the pictures of the workers rallies in Bangladesh, Menon said.

Dhaka City unit of the Workers Party organised a meeting at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad auditorium Dhaka to mark 9th death anniversary of Abul Bashar, who died in the capital on November 7, 2010.

Abul Bashar was a freedom fighter and honest labour leader who worked lifelong for realising rights of workers and he started his carrier as a worker in a factory, Menon said.    

Chaired by WP Dhaka City unit president Abul Hossain, the programme was also attended by former Sramik League president Abdus Salam Khan, city secretary Kishore Roy, central leaders Sharif Shamshir and Jahangir Alam Fazlu.
