Bangladesh Hockey Federation said on Monday it was unable to take any action against its general secretary AKM Mominul Haque Shaeed as he is not formally accused of any wrongdoing and also not wanted by any court.
‘As far as I know, as of now he is not accused in anywhere. There is no diary against him in any police station and he was not charged by any court. If it comes, we will take steps,’ said BHF president and Bangladesh Air Force chief Masihuzzaman Serniabat after a meeting of the executive committee.
Shaeed’s name came in the ongoing drive against gambling after law enforcing agencies found illegal casinos in the Arambagh Krira Sangha and Dilkusha Sporting Club- the two clubs where he is president.
Shaeed went to Singapore to see a women’s hockey tournament last month but did not return home after the drive against casinos started.
The government sacked Shaeed as Dhaka South City Corporation councilor on October 17 for violating rule as he is staying abroad without the LGRD ministry’s permission and did not attend corporation’s board meetings.
BHF president said they can move on even if Shaeed does not return anytime soon.
‘Our hockey is going ahead, not depending on any individual…we all are working together,’ he said.
In the meeting, the federation formed nine standing committees.
