Bangladeshi girls’ finished fifth in their maiden appearance at any international tournament when they lost 2-4 to Chinese Taipei in their final match of the Air Asia Women’s Junior AHF Cup 2019 at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium in Singapore on Sunday.
Taipei took the lead when Chang Li-Hsin scored a field goal in the fifth minute while Ferdous Juairiya leveled the margin for Bangladesh scoring from a penalty corner in the 11th minute.
Taipei took a 2-1 lead when Ko Ting-Yu scored a field goal in the 21st minute before Li-Hsin scored her second field goal in the 29th minute and Ku Chen-Yi made it 4-1 scoring from a penalty corner in the 31st minute.
Juairiya reduced the gap with her second goal when she scored from a penalty corner in the 32nd minute.
Earlier Bangladesh started their campaign with a 0-3 loss against hosts Singapore in the six-nation tournament.
They tasted their only win in the tournament when they beat Sri Lanka by 2-0 goals in their second match before they suffered defeats against Hong Kong by 0-1 and Uzbekistan by 0-6 respectively.
Bangladesh ended the competition with three points from five matches with one win against four losses.
