A discussion on ‘Sensitisation of the employers to facilitate education for the children engaged in transport sector’ was held at Daily Star Bhaban in the city on Sunday.
The goal of the project was to reduce child labour and exploitation in domestic and transport sector in Dhaka, said a press release.
With the technical support of Education and Development Foundation and financial support of Child Fund Korea, Eco Social Development Organisation was implementing the Options for Dignity of Human being by Influencing Key Actors to Reform (ODHIKAR) Project at Mohammadpur.
To achieve this goal ESDO was providing skills, vocational trainings, and free health and education services to the child labourer, the release said.
Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Labour and Employment chairman Mujibul Haque and the ministry’s joint secretary AKM Rafikul Islam spoke at the discussion with ESDO executive director Md Shahid Uz Zaman in the chair.
Representatives from different international and local non-government organisations, labour leaders, monitoring committee, students and staff of ODHIKAR project were present, among others, in the meeting, said the release.
