Lebukhali bridge worker crushed under trolley

A construction worker was killed as he was crushed under a trolley at the construction site of a bridge over Payra River at Lebukhali of Patuakhali on Tuesday.

Authority concerned formed a 3-member investigation committee in this regard, said Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Dumki police station in the district. 

The worker was Md Shahidul Islam, 45, son of Abdur Rahman Hawlader, a resident of Badarpur village under Patuakhali sadar upazila.

The OC said a trolley got stuck in mud on Patuakhali-Barishal highway at about 11:00am and Shahidul was engaged to tie the trolley with iron rope to pull it out. At one a stage he fall under the moving trolley and died on the spot. Dumki upazila chairman Md Harun-or-Rashid Hawlader, assistant superintendent of police Md Faruq Hossain and other officials visited the spot and assured the victim’s family of compensation.

Another construction worker of the same site was killed as an 80-foot high crane suddenly fell on him on March 6, 2018.
