No case was lodged with Rajasthali police station until Monday afternoon in connection with Sunday’s killing of army soldier Md Nasim at Paytimukh under Rajasthali upazila in the hill district of Rangamati, police said.
Rajasthali police station officer-in-charge Mofazzel Ahmed on Monday afternoon said that none was arrested and no case was lodged in this connection so far.
He, however, said that two more army personnel were injured on a hill at Paytimukh Sunday afternoon, hours after Nasim was killed in a gun attack on an army patrol team in the area, while army personnel had been raiding in the area.
The injured army personnel are captain Mehedi and runner Mashiur and the condition of Mashiur was critical, he said. He also added that the two injured personnel were flown off to Chattogram Combined Millitary Hospital for better treatment.
The police officer said that they suspected the involvement of Marma Liberation Party, an armed group active in the area, in the gun attack and the planting of mine in the area.
He said that drives were on to nab the miscreants.
Locals said that most of the villagers of the area fled their homes in fear of harassment during the raids by the law enforcement agencies.
