Three people killed over land dispute in M’singh

Three people were killed and two others were injured in a clash over the ownership of a piece of land at village Khathaldangi of Iswarganj upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Jahirul, Hasim Uddin and Azizul Haq of the village. Hashim’s sons Khairul and Mazharul were injured.

Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said Abdul Rashid and his cousin Hasim had been at loggerheads for a long time over the ownership of a piece of land.

‘Five people were injured when the two sides fought pitched battles at about 9:30am,’ Islam said.

Local people took them to Iswarganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Jahirul dead.

‘The others were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Hasim and Azizul died on their way to the hospital,’ the OC said.

Khairul and Mazharul are being treated at MMCH.
