About six women and girl children were raped on average in a day in the month of July, said Bangladesh Mahila Parishad in its monthly report on violence against women and girl children published on Tuesday.
At least 170 women and girl children were raped in July while 10 of them were murdered after rape and another committed suicide after being raped, the report said.
It said that a total of 450 women and girls were tortured in the month while 10 of them sexually harassed and two were burnt with acid.
A total of 59 women and children were killed, the report said, adding that 10 women were tortured for dowry and three of them were killed.
Nine had to face stalking and one of them was compelled to commit suicide, the report said.
BMP in its monitoring report said that 2,083 women and children fell victims of violence and 731 were raped in the country in six months till June 30.
