Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is paying tribute to 45 late eminent poets, writers, musicians and artistes through a nine-day programme under way at its Music and Dance Centre.
The academy paid tribute to four eminent singers and composers namely Abdul Alim, Abdul Latif, Kanailal Shil and Abbasuddin Ahmed on the fifth day of the programme held on Thursday.
The event featured a discussion and cultural show.
Singers Indra Mohan Rajbongshi, Ashutosh Shil, Nashid Kamal, Sayem Rana and Asgar Alim attended the programme as discussants.
Sohrab Uddin, director of music, dance and recitation department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, presided over the reminiscence programme.
Following the discussion, a vibrant cultural show was held at the venue.
Asgar Alim rendered Abdul Alim’s songs like Sorbonasha padma nadi and Porer jayga porer jomi ghor banaiya ami roi.
Shyamol Pal sang O shukher moinya rey ghate tare dekhlam shonar pakhi and O ki ekbar ashia shonar chand.
Rafi Talukder rendered Kanailal Shil’s songs Holudia pakhi shonali boron and Tomar lagiai sodai pran kandey.
Abida Rahman Setu sang O amari bangla bhasha, Amare thuia boideshshete tumi jaio na go pran and Pran bandhur birohey mon mor chotfot chotfot kore.
The reminiscence programme, which commenced on June 24, will continue till July 2.
