Five representatives of the International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics led by Renaud Leplaideur met Dhaka University vice-chancellor M Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office on Thursday.
Other representatives were Lidia Fernandez Rodriguez, Nicolas Bedaride, Isabel Rios and Sylvain Mousset.
Dhaka University mathematics department chairman Amal Krishna Halder, its professor Chandra Nath Podder and country coordinator of an international workshop Shahidul Islam were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs on mathematics between the University of Dhaka and CIMPA.
Vice-chancellor Akhtaruzzman stressed the need for undertaking more joint collaborative academic and research programs among Dhaka University and other renowned universities and research institutions around the world to enhance quality of education and research.
The CIMPA delegation is in Dhaka to attend a 12-day international workshop on ‘dynamical systems and its applications to biology’ which stepped into fourth day at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban in Dhaka University.
The university’s mathematics department, International Centre for Pure and Applied Mathematics and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation were jointly organising the event.
