Ekushey Padak winning Nazrul Sangeet singer-teacher Khalid Hossain is critically ill and is undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
The octogenarian singer has been suffering from old age complications along with heart and
lung problems for quite some time.
On May 4, he went to NICD for regular check-up, but the doctors decided to admit him to the hospital and kept him under observation as his condition worsened, informed Khalid Hossain’s son Asif Hossain.
Khalid Hossain is undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit, added Asif Hossain.
Born in West Bengal, India in 1945, Khalid Hossain has been singing Nazrul songs and working on recording of the original musical notations of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s songs for over six decades.
He has also worked as a teacher and examiner of Nazrul Sangeet at National University, Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, and many other music institutes.
The Ekushey Padak winner, who has many acclaimed albums to his credit, is a member of the Nazrul Notation Authentication Board at the Nazrul Institute.
